19thC bronze gueridon table after the Roman original

In green patinated bronze, three griffin legs support the round marble top and are surmounted by sphinxes. This athenienne (table) is a copy of a model discovered at Herculaneum (in Naples) and is now conserved at the Museum of Naples, illustrated in World History of Furniture, Paris, 1992, P 18.
